What I'm Reading and Watching- April

I've been having health problems for the last couple of months and haven't done a lot of reading, writing, or TV watching. But now that I'm starting to come out of it some, here is what I've been reading and watching this month! I've marked where spoilers are but still read at your own risk.

1. Thirteen Reasons Why

I read the novel my freshman year of college and was completely drawn in. It's such and interesting concept and is emotionally compelling. I was excited about the TV show. I really liked the casting and acting. They did the perfect job there. They also did a good job sticking to the story for the most part. However, I felt that it was way too drawn out. Thirteen hour-long episodes was just too much. I didn't really like some of the plot filler. Plus *spoilers* one of the most criticized things I've seen people talk about (that I agree with) is having the plot take place over a period of weeks as opposed to one night in the novel. I k…

Book Blogger Hop: Author You'd Like To Meet

Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer
If you could meet one author, dead or alive, who would it be?
Definitely J.R.R. Tolkien. I'd love to have a pint with him and discuss his works. As far as living authors I'd love to meet Neil Gaiman or George R. R. Martin.

Top Ten Tuesday: Fandoms!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
This week's topic is fandoms. It's going to be impossible to keep it to only ten. But here are my favorite fandoms (which include the material itself and the other amazing people in the fandom).
1. Tolkien This was my first fandom before I knew that fandoms were a thing. I love Tolkien. The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion. I love it all. And Tolkien fans are amazing.
2. Star Wars I grew up watching the original trilogy. I wanted to be Princess Leia when I grew up. She's smart, sassy, pretty, and kicks ass. I really loved Rogue One too!
3. Doctor Who There's not too much to say here. It's an amazing show. It's also awesome that Neil Gaiman (who's one of my favorite authors) has written two episodes so far!
4. Sherlock It's fun being part of the craziest fandom ever.
5. A Song of Ice and Fire I love the books and the show! Tyrion is my favorite character.
6. Marve…

Books I'm Looking Forward to Reading

Just thought I'd share some books I'm excited about!

Iron Gold by Pierce Brown

I've mentioned before that I'm a big fan of the Red Rising trilogy so I'm really excited about there being a fourth book. Now it's the Red Rising saga as opposed to trilogy. This comes out October 31st (trick or treat!).

Beren and Luthien by J.R.R. Tolkien (edited by Christopher Tolkien)

Everyone knows what a giant Tolkien fan I am. I'm really excited about this. Beren and Luthien was my favorite part of the Silmarillion. I'm really excited to see the different texts and the changes the story went through. Plus illustrations by Alan Lee! This comes out June 1st.

Red Rising: Sons of Ares

Not only is there another book in the series, but there's graphic novels! Very excited. It's a prequel to the Red Rising saga. May 10th! So close.

The Unworthy Thor by Jason Aaron

As far as comics go I usually like to wait and  get trade copies so I can read it all in one go instead of wai…
