Book Beginnings on Fridays: 1/29

A weekly meme hosted by Rose City Reader: "Please join me every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name".

"He was dead. However, his nose throbbed painfully, which he though odd under the circumstances."

Voyager by Diana Gabaldon

Well, the fourth book in the Outlander series is off to a great start. Nothing like waking up after a battle thinking your dead but are surprisingly not dead.

Can you pass by a book store without stopping in?
No. I've tried, but I am physically incapable of walking past a bookstore. However, I am proud that I have developed the self-control to go in a bookstore and not buy something every time.

Can you recall a time in your life when you were not reading?
Honestly, no. I can recall reading as far back as kindergarten. And before that my family reading to me. I remember when I read my first "big" chapter book. I remember my favorite books and series from when I was a kid. And I remember when I fell in love with my favorite author: Tolkien. Reading has always been a part of my life and always will be.
