Book Blogger Hop: Book Club
A weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Featuring questions from other book bloggers! This week's question:
Are you in a book club? How does your book club choose books? How far in advance do you choose?
I'm in a club, but it's a hybrid club that's part book club, part academic club, and part creative writing group. It is the Literature Club sponsored by my university's Literature department. We try to include all parts of the literature sphere from reading, writing, reviewing, and research.
We do not do readings regularly, but when we have guest speakers come we try to get students to read their book, poems, short stories in advance. An example would be alumni Wiley Cash who is speaking next month. Our club bought copies of A Land More Kind Than Home for anyone interested. We will meet a week before he comes and discuss the book so we can be fully engaged.
We will sometimes read and discuss poems and short stories as a group. A lot of times we recommend books to one another and have random discussions of books many of us have read (usually classics) during meetings. So, that was a long answer but I love the literature club and out unique way of doing things!
